Replicator Cinema – 3D Printing Videos

MakerBot at CES

A super clear and concise explanation of a MakerBot at CES 2010. Not addressed in the video is the fact that they are now selling ~150 kits a month at $750-950 each. putting them at $1-1.7MM in revenue. Even with their cost of goods this is very good for a SUPER niche product that launched a year ago. Especially considering 3D printing is only a ~$700MM a year business to begin with.

3D Printers used in Character Design

This is a pitch video for a character modeling shop, but it illustrates how a design goes from concept sketch to physical object. Just a hunch, but I’m guessing these guys play a lot of WarCraft.

3D Printing a Statue

This video highlights the scanning and and replication of a statue with a 3D printer. It is a nice example showing how the layering process works.

Til next time.
