Replicator Project – Laser Tags

by Joseph Flaherty on January 28, 2010

If you have ever worked a trade show you probably got a badge like this:

It is basic, but easy to read and “professional” looking. I hate scribbling my name on those “Hello” stickers at events because my handwriting is terrible and the tags don’t do anything to facilitate communication between strangers. I’m cursed with bad handwriting, but blessed with access to a laser so I  etched some cool name tags for use at after hours events.

I was also inspired by the “Make Something Cool Every Day” project so I decided to make a series of name tags for a variety of occasions.
This tag is a facsimile of the traditional networking name tag:twitter-tag-2

The nice thing about pre-fabbed tags is that you can squeeze in extra info like a Twitter handle or a URL.

Tweet! Tweet!

My Twitter name is inconveniently long, but it can serve double duty as a name tag.

Using fun fonts is also a way to express a little personality.

Name Tags! 50% Off!

I’ve worn these tags to a few networking events and they have been well received and are good conversation starters.

What do you think? Would social/industry events be more fun with customized name tags?
